Story
Hello! We are Dan and Dan, medical students from Dundee University going to Mwaiwathu Hospital in Malawi later this year for our medical school elective. We will be joining the medical team for 6 weeks from October as final year students, assisting where we can and hopefully learning lots as we go! We also hope to spend some time in outreach clinics, educational programmes and state-funded health facilities around Malawi.
This opportunity is facilitated by charity Medic to Medic. The money that you help us raise will go towards funding Malawian students through medical school and local investment in the hospitals we visit, as well as some of our on-the-ground expenses. We are also hoping to contribute to the establishment of a new community health centre in a village just outside Blantyre that was tragically impacted by cyclone Freddy in 2023.
As part of our fundraising efforts, we are each planning on cycling the length of Malawi (approx. 900km) between now and September. Over the course of this period, we also plan on organising other fundraising events such as bakesales and Malawian tea tasting!
Any contribution is appreciated and will help make a real, sustainable difference to Malawian health education and local medical provision. Thanks!
Dan Patel and Dan Williams.
