Darcey's Half Marathon for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Great North Run 2025 · 7 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
In 2009, my Nana was diagnosed with Motor Neurones Disease after it had begun to affect her speech. She was an incredibly resilient and determined woman, who didn’t let her illness prevent her from painting, even when she was unable to use her dominant hand. My Nana was always incredibly upbeat and adored by her friends and family. After fighting the illness for five years, my wonderful Nana passed away in 2014. In the last ten years, we have continued to remember her lighthearted spirit, artistic talent and kindness.
I’ve recently enjoyed running and signed myself up for the Great North Run 2025. I will be dedicating this run to my lovely Nana and hope to spread awareness and funds for the MND Association to focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Thank you so much for reading this far!! Any donations, shares of my fundraiser and support would be greatly appreciated.
