In April 2021, our beautiful friend Darcy took her own life when she was 17 years old.

Our special friend, Darcy, was an intelligent, bubbly and beautiful human. We all shared and experienced a lot of life growing up through school and together battled challenges alongside each other. We each have our own life-long memories that we will cherish dearly and hold close to our hearts.

Losing our friend so tragically and at such a young age has had a profound impact on us all. It’s difficult to express the impact of a suicide of someone we so dearly loved, we’re still finding our way and trying to comprehend what has happened. The realisation that we will never have the chance to create new memories with our beloved friend again is utterly heartbreaking and something we all find hard to accept.

On 25th May 2025, we will all walk 22 miles along Drake’s Trail (Tavistock to Plymouth) to mark what should have been our beautiful friend Darcy’s 22nd birthday. This Memory Walk is a tribute to Darcy and others struggling.

Going through the pain of our own grief, whilst also seeing the effect it has on Darcy’s other close friends and family, is the reason our eyes have been opened to the severity of mental health within young people. We feel it’s important for us as young women to raise as much awareness as we can around suicide, whilst fundraising for such an important cause.

We are raising £22,000 for PAPYRUS, the national charity dedicated to preventing young suicide. PAPYRUS provides HOPELINE247, a life-saving helpline offering urgent support to young people in crisis.
