Story
Since we were kids, my friend, Simon Palmer and I have dreamed of cycling the length of Britain – from the wilds of John O’Groats to the tip of Land’s End.
Now, we’re finally taking on this epic adventure: over 1,000 miles of hills, headwinds, and (hopefully) a few breathtaking views – all powered by pedal and pure determination.
We’re not just doing this for the challenge (though it’s a big one!) – we’re riding to raise money for Weston Hospicecare, a charity that’s close to our hearts and does incredible work supporting people and families when they need it most. I have seen fantastic work through the eyes of being a local Paramedic, as friend of a patient's and as an employee of the Hospice itself. Every mile we ride and every ache in the saddle will be worth it if we can help them continue their amazing care.
Simon and I are both local to the Hospice, living in Uphill, WSM and both play rugby for Hornets RFC where we became friends as youngsters running around at the nest.
We are very Lucky that my Fiancé, her parents and my parents will be supporting us in a Motorhome convoy.
This challenge also marks the final chapter in my very own 'Cornetto Trilogy' of challenges – after swimming the English Channel and running the London Marathon, I’m swapping sea legs and running shoes for a bike seat.
If you can sponsor us, we’d be incredibly grateful. Every donation, big or small, will keep us going – and make the saddle sores just a bit more bearable.
Thank you for your support – see you at the finish line!
A bit about the Hospice
Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis can be difficult, not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. At Weston Hospicecare, our team of palliative care experts is dedicated to working together to provide specialist support. Our social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. With only 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we have to raise £5.5 million each year to fund our care - something that's only made possible by our community.
