Addiction Family Support was established by Elizabeth Burton-Phillips who lost one of her twin sons, Nick, to heroin. Open to anyone who is affected or bereaved by a loved one's harmful use of alcohol, drugs or gambling. Our helpline 0300 888 3853 gives more information about our services.

Story

I'm raising money in memory of my sister, Jayne Bentham, who sadly passed away from a drugs overdose a few years back, by running my first (and probably last) ultra-marathon. Which is 31 miles (50km) of hard slog running on the World's tiniest ankles (I've added that part for you, Claire).. apparently I have the ankles of a school girl, if you ask Claire ;-)

I've chosen the charity Addiction Family Support to raise money for, and keep me focussed, as they're close to my heart; having helped me cope with the the loss of Jayne through their workshops and bereavement groups.

Plenty of families suffer in silence when a loved one is struggling with addiction, due to the stigma attached. Which is why this charity is so important, as it gives people an understanding ear and support when they need it the most.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
