Story

Having tried for 10 years to run the London Marathon, here I am. Actually doing it! But... I'm not just running one; I'm going to do two marathons!

Richmond Marathon - 14th September 2025

TCS London Marathon - 26th April 2026

Running 52 miles is easy in comparison to the pain suffered by those affected by this disease. Watching mum decline as she did, in such a short space of time, was truly awful. I think about her everyday and wish my two young girls could have met their nan, who wanted nothing more than to have grandchildren. But this was not to be.

So many people's lives have changed forever as a result. Those who know us or lived through it, will understand the emotion wrapped up in running these in memory of my mum. We only had 6 weeks from diagnosis before she finally passed, aged 54, at 01:29, 7th November 2014.

Asking for money in this way is not something that comes naturally. 'Why would anyone want to sponsor me?' is all that I can think. Any donations received will truly help in the struggle against this debilitating disease and will be gratefully accepted.

£28 funds an MND Connect Helpline advisor to support people affected.

£85 funds software which enables people to bank their voice, so they can continue to speak with their own voice, when their body doesn't let them anymore.

£200 funds a communication app to allow someone to continue to speak to others.

£700 funds a wheelchair seat riser, so people with MND can reach shelves or talk at eye level with someone else.

£1000 pays for detailed analysis of the DNA of someone with MND, to support the brilliant research of the charity.
