Cycling 1000 miles for Amber's Army (LEJOG)

LEJOG · 1 July 2025
Cancer is an awful disease that affects everybody and whilst reading this you'll probably be reminded of loved ones no longer with us. In the last few years I've lost several family members and good friends to cancer and my amazing Dad is currently fighting his own battle and kicking cancers ass.
Children getting cancer is one of the most awful and cruel things in life and I can't imagine how incredibly painful losing a child to cancer must be, which is why I've decided to cycle over 1000 miles from Lands End to John O Groats and raise money for an incredible charity called Amber's Army.
Starting on July 1st I'll be cycling the 1000 mile route with my 81 year old Dad, aiming to complete the journey in 2 weeks. People who know me will be well aware I'm not much of a cyclist, I'm a bit of a fat lad with dodgy knees and a fondness for Guinness and curry and getting my slightly knackered 16 stone body up the hills is going to hurt but raising much needed money will certainly help.
Amber’s Army is a Norfolk based family charity, aiming to ‘Create Rainbows in the Darkest of Days’ for Norfolk families who have a child with a terminal cancer diagnosis.
The charity was established in 2023 by the parents of Amber Sheehy, Jon & Amanda, in their daughter’s memory. Amber was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2019, she fought like a true warrior but sadly lost her cancer battle in 2023 aged 8.
