Story
Thank you for visiting my page. In July 2021, my family and I suffered the unimaginable loss of my brother Spencer McCall at the age of just 26 to Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Spencer's courage and strength throughout his battle left an everlasting mark on all who knew him.
I want to honour Spencer's life, his strength, and the love he brought to everyone who knew him by completing this challenge.
This April, I will be running the London Marathon in his honour, raising money for Sarcoma UK. This cause is deeply personal to my family and me, and I want to do everything I can to support the incredible work they do for individuals and families affected by this disease.
Sarcoma is a rare cancer that many people have never heard of until it touches their lives. It only receives a small percentage of cancer research funding, but charities like Sarcoma UK work tirelessly to provide support, raise awareness, and fund research to improve treatments and outcomes for those diagnosed.
Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, you are helping to change this.
Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community:
£25 Could fund a Research Associate to work on a Sarcoma UK research project for one hour
£334 Could fund Sarcoma UK's specialist Support Line for a day
£2,000 Could help with the manufacture of a new-generation drug (PROTAC) which specifically targets sarcoma proteins and could reduce treatment side-effects.
I would be so grateful for your support. Together, we can make a difference and help Sarcoma UK continue their vital work.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for supporting this cause that means so much to me. I appreciate that not everyone is in a position to donate, particularly with challenging financial times but there may be other ways you can help me, for example sharing my page with others.
Let’s make every step count.
If you wouldn't like to donate but love a read then one of Spencer's best friends, Dominic Ball, current footballer for Leyton Orient FC has written a book called: From Winning Teams to Broken Dreams. A story of six friends and their journey to make it as professional footballers. All proceeds of the book go towards Sarcoma UK.
