Take part in Gromit Unleashed 3 - Hot Dog Dash! Choose to run, walk, or roll the distance of your choice and fundraise for The Grand Appeal, the dedicated charity for Bristol Children's Hospital.

Story

Hi everyone,

Many of you will remember 11 year old Barney’s past fundraising efforts where he enjoys undertaking a physical challenge every year to support the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and their designated charity, The Grand Appeal.

The Children’s hospital saved Barney’s life with heart surgery just before his 1st birthday, which has given him the chance to lead a normal life without compromise 💙💙💙💙

This year is no exception and given that the Gromit Unleashed 3 trail is taking place this summer, he thought it would be a great idea to exploit an opportunity and cycle to each of the 53 sculptures over the course of 2 days.

Barney has said “I’m really proud of my fundraising and the people who have supported me over the past five years. I’ve really enjoyed the fundraisers and recieved awards and it’s my duty to carry on fundraising for the hospital that saved my life. You know, I might not be here if it wasn’t for these people” 💙❤️

The total distance is approximately 90-100 miles and takes in the majority of the city, with the furthest extents being Cheddar and Slimbridge Wildlife Wetlands park.

We intend to split the ride into 2x days. Starting on Saturday 30th August at Cheddar and covering South of Bristol and all of the trail in Central Bristol. On the Sunday we will commence from Slimbridge and covering all statues North of Central Bristol.

This will be a tough challenge for Barney who is now 11 and the furthest he has ridden a bike is about 5 miles along a cycle path. As always, he will be accompanied by his Godfather Bradley and Dad Darren.

Barney has successfully fundraised in excess of £17,000 over the past 5 years and we’re really grateful for everyone’s generosity. He really appreciates all of the likes, shares, donations and recognition he has received for his commitment from everyone.
