Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Dave and Ashley McKenzie's world was shattered last April after they noticed their son Jaxon, who was six-years-old at the time, was 'slurring his speech'. They also spotted he had 'an almost lazy leg', and took him to A&E.
Within days, doctors told them Jaxon had a brain tumour and he was given nine to 12 months to live. Dad Dave, a firefighter in Broxburn, said Jaxon was a 'fit and happy' six-year-old before their lives were turned upside down.
Jaxon passed away in December, though the family are 'keeping his name alive'. Along with their friend Stuart, they've launched a charity in his name - Jaxon's Gift.
They hope to support other families with children and young people who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis. Dave told us that thanks to other small charities, he and Ashley (both 36-years-old) were able to make 'lots of nice memories' while dealing with Jaxon's diagnosis - something they now hope to pass on.
Jaxon’s Gift has been set up to support & raise awareness, within our local community & across Scotland, for families with children & young people who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis, particularly those diagnosed with a Diffuse Midline Glioma.
I hope to raise as much as possible for this charity and help those in most need. Please give as much as you can. Thank you.
