Story
Hi everyone
Nothing is more precious to us parents than our children, although our babies can be eger to come into the world, sometimes they are abit too egar and are born prematurely which can cause multiple complications and this is where SCBU also known as neonatal unit in Rotherham comes in and why they are so important.
My son bradley-mac was born on 12th of March 2015 and was 10 weeks premature he wasn't breathing he was so small and vulnerable but the SCBU/neonatal unit was there to save his life, the team there were amazing supporting bradley with everything his body needs an incubator to protect him from infections and to grow a strong imune system,
They helped with feeding, 24 hour visiting for me and his mum to be by his side, Bradley is now 10 and is thriving and living a healthy life thanks to these people and the equipment they have.
So to say thank you for everything they have done im raising money for a charity called Tiny Toes and in doing so I will be walking the Yorkshire three peaks hike on the 6th of September and I would be so grateful if any of you could share and donate something to this very meaningful cause to save other vulnerable babies so they can live a beautiful and loving life ❤️ .
The Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity has been raising money to enhance the experience of NHS patients for more than 25 years, funding resources, equipment and projects which really make a difference.
This has included resources for special babies, including Zacy Hugs – special weighted gloves which help to mimic the sensation of a mother’s touch and smell while they’re in an incubator.
The charity has also funded bespoke artwork for the ward, diaries for new mums plus books and decorations for staff to mark International Kangaroo Care Day, which promotes skin contact for parents and their newborns.
Parents tell us that having a premature baby is an emotional time. They are often faced with weeks of additional care and it’s a tiring and stressful time as we nurse their little ones to full health at Rotherham Hospital.
We want to provide a new unit for these much-loved babies and their parents and the staff caring for them who do an amazing job supporting the families 24/7.
