Story

Ythan Valley Rotary and Aberdeen Deeside Rotary have been involved in many projects supporting communities in the UK and abroad. This particular project will provide laptops for displaced children in the Kharkiv area of Ukraine to allow them to continue their studies.Ukraine is being ravaged by the illegal Russian invasion: not only are children being killed, injured or orphaned but 90% of schools are closed and an entire generation is in danger of growing up without a proper education. There is an urgent need to provide laptops so that the children can at least learn online from wherever they are sheltering. The Rotary Club of Kharkiv International has collected the data of these children and divided them into priorities. At the moment there are 15,000 verified applicants for laptops. Some of these have been satisfied by fundraising to date, but only a very small percentage. Kharkiv International Rotary has established a supply line for reconditioned laptops with adequate facilities for child learning for only $150 each.Ythan Valley Rotary (District 1010 Scotland North) is twinned with Kharkiv International Rotary and everyone is delighted that Aberdeen Deeside Rotary is helping and supporting this initiative.By providing laptops to allow study at home this project will make a huge difference to the lives and education of many Ukrainian children.
