Dash for DASH Dogs

Gareth Price is raising money for DASH Dogs - Dream of a safe haven

DASH for DASH. 14 Marathons in 14 days.

DASH Dogs is the largest, licensed rescue shelter in Greece. We care for hundreds of abused, homeless, sick, injured and elderly dogs including many unwanted and abandoned puppies. Our shelter is run entirely by volunteers and is totally dependent on donations and sponsorship.

Story

We found Prince in 2017 when he was a stray on the streets of Kalamata in Greece and after trying to find him a home, we decided to bring him back to Cornwall. This was only possible because of the nearby DASH Dogs shelter.

I am a keen runner and in the eight years that I've had Prince, I estimate that he has done over 10,000 miles with me. He knows all the trails so well - I sometimes even let him decide which way to go when we reach a fork in the track. For a dog that is so fit and lively in the woods, at home he just likes to snooze on his bed by the fire, or on the sofa when allowed.

I have always wanted to do something big to raise money for DASH so when my crazy running friend suggested we do 14 marathons in 14 days, this seemed like the right opportunity. I've done a few ultra marathons but I've never done two marathons in consecutive days nevermind 14, so this will be a huge challenge. Hopefully my body will hold up to it. 5 hours running a day for two weeks doesn't compare to the endless hours and days that Katerina and all the volunteers at DASH put in. Raising money - however much - to help the dogs there would mean a lot to me, and to Prince.
