Junction Arts is 50 — and so am I! So, it felt like the perfect moment to raise some money for a charity that means a great deal to me.
For five decades, Junction Arts has been sparking creativity, connection and community. From bringing dinosaurs to life in South Normanton in the 1970s, to creating the UK’s biggest light procession in the 90s, to inspiring a new generation through STEAM projects today — they’ve been at the heart of community arts from the very beginning. What started as “a bit of an idea” is now a National Portfolio Organisation supported by Arts Council England, reaching hundreds of people every year through projects that use art to inspire change and tackle inequality.
Why support Junction Arts? As a community artist myself, I’ve seen first-hand how powerful their work is. Their free festivals, workshops and events bring people together, build confidence and make creativity accessible to everyone — no matter their age or background.
Junction Arts works with people aged 0–99 across Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover, using everything from music and theatre to mosaics and textiles. By collaborating with both emerging and established artists, they open doors to the arts in communities affected by economic change — and help create a more connected, creative future for all.
