Story
Every week, 94 men in the UK die by suicide. To raise awareness for men’s mental health and support Movember, I’m running 94 miles from Sheffield arena to Hull Ice Arena — two places that have shaped my life in professional ice hockey, both as a player and referee.
Our fathers, partners, brothers, and friends are facing a silent crisis. Men are dying too young—often from preventable causes—and far too often, they suffer in silence. It's a crisis that can no longer be ignored. That's why I’m running 94 miles from Sheffield to Hull: to raise awareness, spark conversation, and raise funds for Movember, a global charity leading the fight for men’s health.
This isn’t just a physical challenge—it’s a statement. A reminder that the mental and physical health of men matters. Every mile represents the countless men who’ve battled prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health struggles, or suicidal thoughts. Many of them never reached out. Many of them never got the chance to recover.
Movember exists to change that. Since 2003, they’ve funded over 1,250 innovative men’s health programmes worldwide, cutting through the stigma and challenging outdated ideas about masculinity. They back evidence-based strategies that genuinely make a difference—whether it’s reshaping how we treat prostate cancer, supporting early intervention in mental health, or creating lifesaving suicide prevention tools.
I’m running this to honour the men who didn’t make it and to fight for those who still can. But I can’t do it alone. Every donation, every share, every conversation matters. With your support, we can help Movember continue their life-saving work—and move one step closer to a world where men live happier, healthier, longer lives.
Let’s stop men dying too young. Let’s do something about it—together.
Please consider donating or sharing my story. Every step counts.
