Story
My Son Anthony and Myself Dave are running the 2025 TCS London Marathon for Alzheimer's Research UK!
This will my last marathon and my sons 1st. So probably going to be an emotional day.
Alzheimer's is very close to our family's hearts.
For myself,
I lost my Mom, Joyce Lloyd and my Father and Mother in Law Brian and Sheila Hoole.
For my Son
it was 2 Grandma's and 1 Grandad from this cruel illness.
In 2016 Joyce Lloyd passed away, 2021 Brian Hoole passed and 2024 Sheila Hoole passed. All from Alzheimers.
My Wife, Sue, had both her parents Brain and Sheila diagnosed with Alzheimer's on the same day 10 years ago together at the same hospital appointment, which totally devastated my wife's world. Sue, who is an only child, give up her full-time job as a Auxiliary nurse for 25 years to become their full time carers as they both deteriorating rapidly
Losing a close relative is terrible but to lose them twice, firstly to this terrible disease is heartbreaking.
I know that most people will have or have had family or friends that have been affected by this disease.
Alzheimer's Disease is an irreversible, progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory and thinking skills, and eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks.
Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of Dementia. 1 in 3 children born this year will develop dementia in their lifetime.
It is important that we all support Alzheimer;s Research to find a cure for this awful disease.
