Story
My best friend Dave was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour several years ago. After showing immense strength and courage throughout his illness, he sadly passed away in November last year.
Dave was the best person I’ve ever known — kind, selfless, and always looking for ways to help others, even when he was going through the toughest times himself. One of the things that mattered most to him was raising awareness around brain cancer, a cause he cared deeply about.
In the later stages of his illness, when he could no longer take part in the charity work he loved, I promised him that I would carry it on in his place. This walk is part of that promise.
To honour him, myself, Declan and Charlie will be walking from London to Brighton — a journey Dave himself cycled many years ago to raise money for charity. He would have loved the challenge of this walk, and I know he’d be cheering every step of the way. We will split the walk over two days as I intend to start at Dave’s house, walk to Richmond where the official ultra trail begins and finish in Brighton. We would love to invite anyone to join us on the last leg of the walk to give us a bit of a boost. So if you’re interested in the last 10-15km please don’t hesitate to ask for more details.
So this one’s for him. For the laughs, the kindness, the unforgettable friendship — and to raise funds and awareness for The Brain Tumour Charity, which was close to both of our hearts.
If you’re able to donate or share the page, I’d be so grateful. Let’s keep Dave’s spirit alive by doing something good.
