Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

For many years mum has been diagnosed with vascular dementia and Alzheimers. During covid she deteriorated greatly but continues to fight on and always bounces back from any setback.

Whilst there is no cure for Dementia and Alzheimers there are many organisations doing great research into understanding Dementia. There are also many great organisations that provide support for people like mum. Dementia UK are a specialist dementia nurse charity and provide support that can really change the quality of life for someone with Dementia. Fundraising for this charity helps to grow the number of specialist dementia nurses so wonderful people like my mum receive the care and support they deserve.

My parents for many years travelled through France on a motorbike, so I have decided to challenge myself to cycle with my friend Marc from Liverpool through England to France and down to the Algarve. This will be a journey of almost 3000k over 3 weeks at about 8 hours cycling per day departing on the 28th April 2023. I am undertaking an intense 12 week programme to train for the journey and hope that I make it all the way!

Any donations to this wonderful charity would be much appreciated, and if you cant spare the money please consider just leaving a message showing your support. It means the world to work together to provide support to those who have dementia and their families.
