David, Peter and James' fundraiser for The Salvation Army

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
The culmination of almost 12 months training saw us completing the London Marathon on Sunday. This was James and my first ever marathon and we didn’t really know what to expect despite completing several Half Marathons since April last year. David is a seasoned runner having completed 18 marathons. Peter and James now know a marathon is a very different challenge altogether!
Peter hit the infamous wall at mile 20 and didn’t recover. So, his pace dropped drastically, and even resorted to doing a bit of walking to try and recover. Peter commented "It was tough, very tough and was the hardest physical challenge I have ever faced". Peters finishing time was 4:28:51, Dave finished in 5:48:59 and James in an amazing 3:23:23.
Thank you for your support and encouragement leading up to the event. Our combined fundraising for support of victims of modern slavery currently sits at over £8,800 and we hoping this may increase over the next few days.
A reminder...
Our mission is to combat modern slavery with every step we take, aiming to raise £10,000 to aid survivors in rebuilding secure lives.
David and Peter's story began with challenging adventures, from cycling the South Downs Way (100 miles) in a Day on mountain bikes to an unsupported ride from Lands End to John O’Groats (LEJOG) on touring bikes, covering a total of 1,000 miles. We then embarked on a bike-packing expedition from St David’s in Pembrokeshire to Lowestoft, spanning 435 miles. We will stretch ourselves with further running events prior to the event.
Not wishing to miss out, James has now joined is on the back of completing several Half Marathons, including Surrey and Farnborough.
As passionate advocates for shared mini-adventures and challenges, we are determined to utilise our love for these experiences to garner sponsorship for The Salvation Army. Our previous LEJOG ride raised an astounding £10,000 for the charity, supporting refugees, addiction services, and domestic abuse causes.
The Salvation Army's unwavering commitment to providing unconditional friendship and practical assistance to those in crisis resonates deeply with us. With over 800 social service centres and community churches in the UK and Republic of Ireland alone, their impact is truly remarkable. Join us as we continue our journey towards the London Marathon 2025 and stand against modern slavery.
We are driven by an unwavering passion for advocating for those in need and are committed to making a tangible difference in the lives of survivors of modern slavery.
Please support our cause by contributing towards our target amount of £10,000 as we prepare for the London Marathon 2025.
