St Michael’s Hospice is heavily dependent on the generosity of local individuals, companies, groups and trusts. The NHS provides one third of our total income as grants. Did you know it costs around £5.5 million per year to provide our Hospice services? Please support our vital work.

Story

James McKinnon was the most incredible husband to Danielle, father to Izzy, Millie, Betsy and Teddy, and a dear friend, brother, uncle, and cousin.

Since his terminal diagnosis in May 2023, the Sara Lee Trust have supported him and his family via counselling providing invaluable therapy, care and friendship.

The Sara Lee Trust aims to improve the lives and wellbeing of people affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses in the Hastings and Rother area by providing free counselling, complementary therapies and therapeutic group activities.

The Trust is also the dedicated provider of end of life counselling and complementary therapy services to patients of St Michael’s Hospice in St Leonards-on-Sea and the Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital.

During James' stay at St Michael's Hospice, he was cared for every second, day and night by the team of angels who work there. No ask was too big and he was as peaceful as he could be, pain-free and loved during his end of life care.

St Michael's Hospice provide specialist palliative care services to the community of Hastings and Rother, supporting and enabling them to live well with dying, death and loss.
