Story
As you all know me, I’m not athletic in the slightest. I’m very good at sitting 🪑
But in an effort to help my physical and mental health my partner Katie Flanagan and I have decided to take part in the Red Shoe Walk 2025 to help raise vital funds for dementia care projects in Sheffield through Sheffield Hospitals Charity.
The Red Shoe Walk is a 3km walk along the canal path on the outskirts of Meadowhall Shopping Centre. Funds raised will help improve hospital spaces and activities, provide specialist dementia training for NHS staff, volunteers and family carers, and help people with dementia to live independently.
Why red shoes? The colour red can increase brain wave activity in people with dementia. It easily catches their attention. It’s a colour that can be seen clearly, even through to the late stages of dementia.
We appreciate times are hard, if you can donate as little as you £3 that would be amazing!
Thank you so much !
