This year will be my final fundraiser and I aim to go out on a high, with a 24-hour tennis marathon as well as the Half Marathon. This final effort will pay for a local tennis coach, ongoing court maintenance and equipment for the children to use.

I started this journey in 2015 with the first trip out there, teaching tennis in a car park, using a rope as the net and cones as the lines to around 30 children.

In 2016 and in conjunction with Mak (Manchester Aid to Kosovo Makonline.org), the project begins with the creation of Podujeva tennis club, and an ambition to build courts on the Peace Park for the local children. Over one week 400+ local schoolchildren were introduced to tennis.

In Years 2016 - 2019 @ 2022 - 2023, I took junior members from our club to Podujeva each year to teach tennis for a week, leaving behind 200+ rackets and 100’s of balls.

The Covid years put the actual construction on hold, but the fundraising continued. The court has now been built and the final layer of tarmac goes on in early June.
