Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am taking on this amazing challenge for the National Autistic Society, the UK's largest autism charity supporting the 700,000 people and their families across the country.
The hugely popular half marathon starts in Newcastle city centre, over the iconic Tyne Bridge, with the swooping Red Arrows overhead and onwards to finish with the sea views in South Shields.
I am taking on this challenge because of my amazing daughter Sienna who inspires me every day with the challenges she overcomes and adapts to.
Sienna was diagnosed autistic at 18 months old, we always had our suspicions but nothing prepares you being sat in front of a paediatrician giving the diagnosis, we were left with a million and one questions!
At this point sienna was none verbal me and my partner would often discuss what her life would look like in the future, would we ever here her say “mammy” or “daddy” would she ever respond back to the “I love you”, or would she ever be able to do normal day to day activities that most people can as she grew older!
Although we still have lots of questions and don’t know what the future will hold what we do know is that if we can spread awareness as much as we can maybe people might start to show some understanding of what autistic people go through on a day to day basis!
Please donate what you can and please share my page if you can. Thank you!
