As many of you may already know I enjoy various hi-octane sports such as obstacle course racing, motor biking and karate, not the expected typecast pastimes of a safety professional I know. 

I have been practicing Wado Ryu Karate with Sittingbourne Martial Arts for the last 6 1/2 years, with a short enforced hiatus in 2020, and will be attempting to grade for my first Dan black belt on Thursday 27th July, this is a culmination of all the hard work and hours of commitment in presenting myself to our regional Sensai so to demonstrate my understanding of the practiced art form.

As part of the final grading process we are required to complete 1000 punches and 1000 kicks and are actively promoted to complete this for a chosen charity, and as such, I would like to raise some necessary funding for my daughter Tilly’s school.

Tilly was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and sensory processing disfunction at the age of 4 and attends Meadowfield School for children with additional specific needs, the dedicated staff are currently engaged in various physically challenging events to raise much needed funding to provide additional facilities within the educational environment.

Their current focus is to construct a bespoke fitness centre tailored for the varied complex needs of all of their pupils thus providing a safe environment for the students to develop themselves, maintain a healthy lifestyle, to gain confidence and to further establish a level of independence.

I endeavour to assist them, in some part, in reaching their funding target, and have set myself a goal of raising £500 for their cause, please sponsor me in my impending karate grading, any small donation is greatly appreciated and will go some way in providing fulfilment to many, the small things that are easily within our remit can provide great dividends for others.
