Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My wife, Julie, has suffered with Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN) for the past 6 years and I have witnessed her go through periods of incredible and debilitating facial pain. At its worst, she can have many weeks where she is barely able to eat, drink, wash, or brush her teeth without triggering an attack. I have seen the psychological impact of constantly fearing the next attack, not wanting to leave the house and living in expectation that another bolt of electricity is about to strike her face.
Being a member of the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association UK (TNA) has given Julie and I access to information, expert knowledge and support that gives us hope that there are treatment options ahead.
We both enjoy running and, when Julie is able to run, she finds that it helps both physically and mentally with her condition.
I turned 60 in February, and last year thought that running the London Marathon would be a memorable way to mark this milestone. I was lucky to receive an entry through the ballot and I want to use that to raise money for TNA to support the work that they do in raising awareness and supporting sufferers.
Running 26.2 miles around the streets of London will bring me pain and suffering, but it will be temporary and I will eventually cross the line and be left with a sense of achievement. For Julie and everyone else with TN, the pain is excruciating, recurring, often unbearable with no finish line in sight.
Please donate whatever you can and help fund TNA to support people like Julie and help drive me forward.
