Story
This June, the team at Finecast Foundry is taking on one of the UK’s toughest endurance events — the Lake District Ultra Challenge.
On 6–7 June 2026, we’ll attempt the 100km continuous challenge through the Southern Lake District — covering over 2,500 metres of elevation across mountains, valleys and rugged terrain — all in one continuous effort.
This is a serious physical and mental test — but we’re doing it for a cause that matters.
Why We’re Doing It
We’re raising funds for The Block Armed Forces Foundation Charity — an organisation supporting Armed Forces veterans, service leavers and their families.
The Block provides vital, practical support to those facing challenges such as:
• Homelessness and housing instability
• Mental health and wellbeing
• Addiction and recovery
• Employment, training and transitioning to civilian life
Through supported accommodation and structured programmes, the charity helps individuals regain stability, rebuild confidence and move towards a more positive future.
Our Challenge
Starting and finishing in Kendal, the route will take us:
• Over the demanding Garburn Pass
• Through Ambleside and along Lake Windermere
• Across forests, valleys and nature reserves
• Up the final climb of Scout Scar before the finish
As the team attempts to complete the challenge in under 24 hours, this is about endurance, resilience and pushing through when it gets tough.
Our Target
We’re aiming to raise at least £5,000 for The Block Foundation.
Every donation will go towards supporting veterans and service leavers who need it most — helping provide stability, support and a pathway forward.
How You Can Help
If you’re able to support us, we’d hugely appreciate it.
Every donation — big or small — makes a real difference.
Your support will help us push through the toughest parts of the challenge, more importantly, support a charity delivering vital work for those who have served.
