On 9th May I will be setting off on a cycle ride from RAF Scampton, which was the home of No. 617 Squadron RAF in 1943.

Seven and a half days and some 530 miles (and no doubt weary legs) later we plan to arrive at Möhnesee, to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the Dambusters Raid, which took place on the night of 16/17th May 1943.

Both Sarah and I are witness to SSAFA's fantastic work every one of our working days and ask that you please join me in raising vital funds to support serving men and women, veterans and families who will call on SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity for help in their time of need.

Since 1885, thanks to the public's support, SSAFA continues to provide welfare and wellbeing assistance tailored to our Armed Forces community. They know and understand the unique demands of service life, whether in the UK or overseas, and in times of need, they help to enable the Forces family to thrive.
