#100MilesForDuchenne · 25 June 2023

As the leading Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) charity in the UK, we want to find effective treatments for DMD and end its devastating impact. We’re going further than anyone has before, and we’re doing it faster, because this generation of people living with DMD can’t wait.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In 2018 I received the news that no parent should ever hear. My son, Roman was 9 months old when we were told that he had a rare genetic muscle wasting condition called Duchenne Muscular dystrophy, for which there are currently no treatments and no cure. This condition will slowly rob him of his ability to walk.

But there is hope! Charities set up by desperate parents such as myself have raised money and accelerated research to the point where there are now treatments in clinical trials. Duchenne UK is one such charity, run by parents who are aiming to do big things. But changing the world takes money, as much money as we can possibly throw at it and that's where we come in.

On 25th June myself and a close friend, Ste Nicholls will be taking on our biggest challenge yet! We will be running a 100 mile Ultramarathon from Leeds to Liverpool along the Leeds - Liverpool Canal. We will be aiming to complete this in under 24 hours and all money raised will go directly to Duchenne UK.

Through the power of social media we will also have another father joining us on the 25th June. Stephen, his Son, Jack and the rest of his family are on the same emotional roller coster as me and my family and share the same passion for raising awareness and drive to try and make a positive change.

We are actively welcoming any other people who would like to be involved no matter if its for a small leg or the whole thing.

Thank you X
