The CMTA is the largest philanthropic funder of CMT research worldwide. CMT (Charcot-Marie-Tooth) is a progressive neurological disease, resulting in muscle atrophy and paralysis. Due to peripheral nerve damage, people with CMT are unable to effectively use the hands, arms, feet, and legs. CMT can be debilitating and severely disabling. To date, there is no cure.

The CMTA brings the best CMT researchers, clinicians, and experts in therapy together with pharmaceutical/biotechnology companies and patients to expedite the development of treatments for CMT.
