David's fundraiser for Sturge Weber UK

The three forts challenge - 21km trail run · 4 May 2025
Dear Friends and Family,
I want to tell you about our incredible daughter, Harriet. Born in November, Hattie has a birthmark that covers most of her face, but it’s her heart and spirit that truly define her. When we left the hospital, we were told there was less than a one percent chance she could have Sturge-Weber syndrome, a rare condition that affects both her brain and body. But Hattie defied the odds, and it turns out she’s one of those very few.
This diagnosis means Hattie’s life will be filled with challenges—challenges that will require extraordinary strength, resilience, and courage. Yet, every day, she shows us the true meaning of perseverance. While there is no cure for Sturge-Weber at the moment, the research and support being conducted by Great Ormond Street Hospital and Sturge-Weber UK is paving the way for hope and new possibilities for families like ours.
This May, I’m taking on the Three Forts Challenge, a 21km trail race across the South Downs, to raise both awareness and funds for this vital cause. The terrain will be tough, the journey will be grueling, but I know that if Hattie can face the challenges she does with the grace and bravery she shows every day, then I can push through anything.
I ask for your support—no matter how big or small. Every donation will bring us one step closer to better research, better care, and brighter futures for kids like Hattie. Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
With gratitude and hope,
David
