Story
My wonderful granddad, who took me skiing and to golf lessons, taught me how to wash a car, and with whom I played countless board games - sadly had Parkinson’s in his final years. He had a full life and died seven years ago.
When he was unwell, he did some movement activities which he found hugely beneficial. There wasn't a Parkinson's Dance where he lived but if there had been, he'd have valued this.
Dorchester Arts are a wonderful local organisation who deliver this activity. They have a fantastic creative health programme of which Parkinson's Dance is one part. It's always hard to raise funds for this type of ongoing activity from traditional funders. It's too small for some and too big for others.
I always like to try to raise funds for charities that don't get the spotlight that the bigger organisations do. Dorchester Arts are a glorious example of the good a grassroots cultural venue does for its community.
So, if anyone has a few pounds that they can give to support this work, I'd hugely appreciate it. More, it'll be of huge benefit to those who live with Parkinson's, helping them have a more fulfilling and comfortable life.
