Story
A very sad update. After a four year battle with breast cancer, I am sorry to say that Heather passed away peacefully at St Cristopher's hospice at the end of August. I was holding Heather when she died.
Heather was diagnosed with stage 4 during lockdown. The sneaker bugger had already spread to the bones by the time it was diagnosed (not helped by the Covid lock down meaning no face to face appointments with GPs).
Her oncologist was very optimistic, promising a long line of treatments to stop the cancer from growing and shrink what was there. But cancer is a sneaky f*cker that mutates - and grows and spreads. By the time the mutation was discovered, it had spread to Heather’s liver and from there she went downhill rapidly.
I am again trying to run/walk/hobble the London Marathon to raise money for Breast Cancer Now because I want to help BCN support people affected by Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer Now is the UK’s first comprehensive breast cancer charity and provide support for everyone affected by breast cancer. They are also support projects looking at different aspects of secondary breast cancer – from finding ways to stop breast cancer spreading to finding more effective ways to treat it.
Thank you for visiting my page. Please donate whatever you can to help find treatments, support and hopefully a cure for this awful disease.
