I am doing the ride for Erskine in memory of my dad William Alexander Mackenzie, who died in an RTA which was caused by a heart attack 50 years ago. Hence the link to the British Heart Foundation. He went into the back of a stationary car just outside Whitecraigs station.
Bill as he was known was was born in Macduff but moved to Rutherglen at a young age. He served his time on the Clyde and moved into the Merchant Marine where he worked his way up to Chief Engineer. When he was 48 he left the service and started work selling. He had his accident on his way to pick up my mum in Shawlands.
I am doing it to raise some funds to help look after some of our service men and women in their time of need. Erskine requires in the region of £12 million annually and hopefully this will help a little.
I completed the ride in 6 hours and 45 minutes (including 5 stops)
I also had a page for BHF which is sitting at £1,055.

About Erskine
Our service personnel display the highest level of bravery and courage, and it is only right that we are there for them should they need support in the future.
Erskine supports Veterans with the next stage of their journey, whether it is looking for temporary transitional support and accommodation or looking for fulfilment alongside like-minded individuals in later life.
On the 15th June I will be doing my last charity ride in the BHF organised London to Brighton bike ride

As you can see there are some steep climbs, the worst/steepest is Dichling Beacon.

Did I mention that I don't like cycling :-)
Below is day 2 of Wembley to Blackpool - 13 years ago.
