Story
In memory of my wonderful sister Samantha who passed away from Bladder cancer in June 2025 aged 54 I will be walking 100 miles (or more) in January whatever the weather. This is part of the Big 100 setup by my employers the Learning Skills Partnership where a number of staff will also be getting out in all weathers to help beat the January blues. If you can spare anything for this wonderful charity that would be greatly appreciated.
Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer - it is of the ten most common cancers in the UK - that's 4% of all new cases.
Over 20,000 people are diagnosed each year, and many of those will die. Despite this, there is very limited public awareness of the disease and it is a low priority on the public health agenda. Treatments have changed very little over the past 30 years and research is seriously underfunded. Bladder cancer has been called a 'Cinderella' cancer. ABC UK is dedicated to changing this and to giving bladder cancer patients a voice.
