In memory of my wonderful sister Samantha who passed away from Bladder cancer in June 2025 aged 54 I will be walking 100 miles (or more) in January whatever the weather. This is part of the Big 100 setup by my employers the Learning Skills Partnership where a number of staff will also be getting out in all weathers to help beat the January blues. Bladder cancer is not a rare cancer - it is of the ten most common cancers in the UK - that's 4% of all new cases.

Over 20,000 people are diagnosed each year, and many of those will die. Despite this, there is very limited public awareness of the disease and it is a low priority on the public health agenda. Treatments have changed very little over the past 30 years and research is seriously underfunded. Bladder cancer has been called a 'Cinderella' cancer. ABC UK is dedicated to changing this and to giving bladder cancer patients a voice.
