David’s wee run for cancer funds

160km ultramarathon with Ben Nevis climb · 15 September 2024
In April 2022 I was admitted to hospital with heavy bleeding. I would soon discover that I had stage 3.5 bowel cancer. The next 10 months were a blur of chemo/radiotherapy/pain. Eventually, with all the blessings in the world, in February 2023 I was told I’d had a full clinical recovery.
During my difficult times MacMillan cancer support helped me and my family with counselling, reiki, financial advice and kindness.
I was meant to do this run last year but broke my foot in August. So I’m doing it this year. I’ll be running/walking the 160km spread over 4 days. So roughly a marathon per day. On the fifth day I plan to climb Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the uk.
The route I am following is the West Highland Way, which is famous worldwide for its beauty.
I would love it if people would contribute and I’ll try to post regular updates.
Hugs, David
