Story

#Target updated AGAIN on 01-04-25 from £3000 to £4000 due to super generous giving so far!!

I am absolutely humbled by the generosity of those who have truly dug deep to support me and Blythswood Care.

It will really help me and spur me on when I reach the 10-12% gradients of Mt Ventoux! Every pedal stroke will count...and it will hurt! But it will be worth it. Thank you all.

On 16th May 2025 DV, I will be 65yrs old and I plan to cycle up Mont Ventoux - the Giant of Provence!

This is one of THE epic, bucket list climbs for cyclists which I had hoped to tackle when I reached 60, some five years ago - but the Covid pandemic put paid to that plan somewhat.

Here we are 5 yrs on and 5 years older. The challenge remains!

I will be travelling to France that week and climbing the 1912m (6270ft) mountain from Bedion which is considered one of the most difficult climbs of the 2025 edition of the Tour de France. (watch for it on TV in July!)

I have chosen to fundraise for a Scottish charity, Blythswood Care, which is best known for the annual Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. However, through a friend, I have learned of their wider work transforming lives through the impact of education, community action and gospel activities.

Being made aware of their recent work in Ukraine, Romania and India prompted me to select Blythswood Care as my chosen charity for this special birthday challenge!

I do hope you can dig deep and be generous as this will be a big physical challenge for me.

Thank you so very much for your support - it is truly appreciated!

God bless,

David

(PS - hope you enjoy the photos of me and my bikes, some from a long time ago!!)
