David is taking part in a cycling challenge,

riding from Paris to Zurich.

With 20 other cyclists both English and Swiss,

We aim to raise money for various charities

and hopefully have a great cycle with new friends, as well!

After qualifying as a doctor in 1980, I spent several months working in a Red Cross refugee camp, set up for the Vietnamese boat people in Hong Kong. They were a resilient and cheerful people who had had to escape their homeland under oppressive political circumstances and often suffered much hardship and tragedy on their way, along the South China Sea, to safety and care.

It was a privilege to contribute to their medical care as part of the Red Cross team at Kai Tak camp.

Thus, having seen first-hand the work of the Red Cross for displaced people it seemed fitting to to use this charity event to raise money for their continuing work, in the many troubled areas of the world, it undertakes it's work.
