Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2024 · 25 May 2024 ·

The Somerset Levels were once a vast wetland. From pelicans to lynx, they would have teemed with wildlife. Somerset Wildlands is aimed at restoring some of that lost life and wildness through a process of rewilding - creating more space for nature in this wonderful environment. .

Story

On 26th May 2024 I'll be running* the Edinburgh Marathon.

This is a silly thing for a tired old sod to do.

So I thought I'd chivvy myself by fundraising for the fab Somerset Wildlands, a small rewilding charity of which I'm the chair of the board of trustees.

We buy or steward chunks of land in the Somerset levels and let nature have them back. The Somerset Levels were once a BONKERS wild wetland. Pelicans, lynx, beavers, tigers**, everything. We want to help it thrive again.

We're a small charity with very few overheads and your support would go a very long way.

If you could spare a few quid to help inspire me not to sit by the roadside and cry - as well as helping to give nature a cuddle - I'd love it.

** I'm lying about the tigers.
