Story

Arthur Morgan is the nephew of one of our work colleagues. He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) at five months old and became the first baby in the UK to receive the gene therapy Zolgensma, helping him make inspiring progress despite the challenges he still faces.

Now nearly six, Arthur works hard every day—building his head control, enjoying Peppa Pig and Disney, and spending time with his sisters and cousins—while still needing significant specialist support to improve his mobility and quality of life. Previous fundraising allowed his family to stay with him during long hospital stays, access a clinical trial in Italy, purchase a specialist car seat, and fund vital therapies, but Arthur has now outgrown his current wheelchair and urgently needs a more advanced model than the basic version available through the NHS.

To help make this possible, the family has teamed up with the charity Tree of Hope, enabling match funding, Gift Aid and secure management of all donations, and they are incredibly grateful to supporters—including Matchtech, who are undertaking a number of fundraising activities, including trekking up Snowdon, to raise funds for Arthur.

As the journey ahead remains long, the family is determined to give Arthur every opportunity to thrive, noting that 7.5% of donations support Tree of Hope’s operating costs and any surplus or insufficient funds will be used in line with the charity’s objectives.
