Story

Running from Torbay to London – and then the London Marathon!

Hi, I’m Dave Ryan, and in April 2026, I’ll be taking on the biggest physical and mental challenge of my life – running from my home in Torbay all the way to London over the course of 8 days, averaging 49km (30 miles) per day, and then finishing it all off by running the London Marathon on Day 9.

That’s over 440km (270+ miles) in total – all in support of a cause very close to my heart:

The National Autistic Society 💙

Why I'm Doing This?

I’m the proud dad of a beautiful little boy, Seth, who is autistic.

Every day, he teaches me about patience, resilience, and the power of seeing the world differently. Being a parent to an autistic child is a journey full of challenges, joy, and constant learning – and it’s shown me just how vital support, awareness, and understanding really are.

The National Autistic Society does incredible work to support autistic individuals and their families, and to fight for a world that works for autistic people. This run is my way of giving back, and helping make a difference.

How You Can Support

This isn’t just a solo mission – I’d love for you to be part of it. You can support in any of the following ways:

✅ Donate whatever you can – no amount is too small, and every penny will go to The National Autistic Society.

✅ Join me on the road – whether it’s 1km, 5km, or the full daily 49km, I’d love your company.

The Route

I'll be starting in Torbay, heading northeast across the country over 8 days, aiming to reach London in time to take part in the London Marathon on Day 9.

This final day won’t just be the end of a physical journey – it will be the celebration of everything this run stands for: awareness, love, and community.
