Story
It's a year since we said goodbye to our dad, husband, brother, uncle and dear friend to many, John Sargent. Having dad at home though the final month and days of his life was a huge help and comfort to us and the work of nurses, carers, palliative care team and Hospice at Home though St John's Hospice made a difficult journey possible. The professional care was vital, of course, but equally so was the compassion, kindness, gentle dignity and, yes, love, for all the family.
Wirral Hospice St John's relies on donations and fundraising activities to help the charity keep caring for patients and their loved ones at a time of most need.
I have hoped to run this 48 mile mountain traverse from NE - SW Cumbria for many years, but injury prevented an attempt. This year ... I am going for it anyway. As I do so I will be remembering two special people; my fell running pal Sean who died in 2021 and with whom I shared may happy days on the fells or in the bike saddle, and my lovely dad. Dad took me up Snowdon as a young boy and 40 years laters was supporting me when I had a go at a similar mountain challenge across the Snowdonia hills.
Sean and Dad were both cared for by Hospice at Home.
The adventures we have are special because of the people we share them with. Hospice at Home helps us make that final journey close to those we love dearly. We will always be grateful.
Please remember to tick the Gift Aid option at the end of the donation process. This significantly increases the value of your gift at no extra cost to you.
Thank you for your kind support, it means a lot.
