Story

Another Coast Call.

This week it will be a year since my mam sadly passed away. My mam died from cancer of the oesophagus. We miss her so much and things don’t seem the same without her in our lives. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t think about her.

When my mam was diagnosed with cancer she was referred to the Macmillan cancer support team. The support that she was given by them was phenomenal. They were there for her all the way through her illness. Whether it was to answer medical questions, or offer emotional support and even help out with her finances. Macmillan cancer support really helped my mam a lot and we’re really grateful for everything.

Macmillan cancer support do so many great things all over the country. This year Leanne and I got to go to the opening of a fantastic new support hub at Furness general hospital in barrow.

Last year I rode a trilogy of cycling sportives and called it “one climb too many.” This raised £2000 for Macmillan thanks to everyone’s kind generosity. You guys rock!

So….. I was thinking that I could maybe do another horrendously challenging bike ride and try to make some more money for Macmillan cancer support.

I’ve decided on trying to cycle from Walney to Scarborough in a day. this looks like a real challenge, going over the Lake District peninsula’s, through Orton Fells, the north Penines, Esk valley, Tan Hill and North York Moors. I’m hoping to ride across to Whitby and then down to Scarborough on the August bank holiday Sunday . A proper coast to coast. It’ll be a 200 mile ride and hopefully take no more than 20 hours. It’s gonna be tough.

I know that things are really tough at the moment. I’m shocked at the cost of everything anytime we go shopping or get a utility bill or fill up the car! Money is really tight for everyone. 🙁

But if you can spare just a couple of quid, please go to my just giving page below and sponsor me. All the money goes to Macmillan cancer care. It will help them to carry on with all the fantastic work they do. I’ve seen first hand how the money you give them is spent and it’s really put to great use.

Thanks so much
