On June21st, I cycled from my home town of Huddersfield to Hoole on the outskirts of Chester, a distance of seventy seven miles, on my trusty mountain bike, hence the name “ Hoole In One”.

I’m raising funds for the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity who are treating our “soon to be” daughter in law for breast cancer.

Ashley and Cris got engaged in the Alps last Spring, with Cris going down on one knee, just as the sun was setting. As if the ring wasn’t enough, he’d been snowboarding all day with a bottle of champagne and two glasses hidden in his snowsuit.

Their wedding is scheduled for June 28th, but a few weeks ago, they were stunned to learn that Ashley had cancer.

Fortunately, it’s been diagnosed early, with treatment already underway.

It does mean however, that plans for an Alpine wedding celebration weekend have had to be postponed until next year.

Instead, Ashley is facing twenty two weeks of chemotherapy.

Ashley is approaching this like all her endeavours, with boundless energy and optimism, and we are all looking forward to a successful completion.

Typically, we can’t help her with this, but I’m not one to sit on the sidelines.
