Brighton Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are embarking on an incredible journey as we prepare to participate in the Brighton Marathon 2024, all in support of Parkinson's UK.
Training for a marathon has been both physically and mentally challenging for both of us. David has had illness and an injury to a tendon in his hip, whilst Steve has had to deal with a torn Achilles tendon and of course dealing with his Parkinson's diagnosis.
Witnessing my mother's unwavering strength as she battles this illness has been awe-inspiring. Although her mobility is now more restricted, her indomitable spirit continues to shine through. Then last year, Steve, who is an ultra marathon runner and a neuro physio for children in the NHS, was also diagnosed with Parkinson's. Like our mother, he refuses to let it define him and has become actively involved in various Parkinson's help groups.
So, this year, we are going to do something we have always wanted to do, ....we are going to run a marathon together!
Research into Parkinson's is, like a lot of charities underfunded, so I am asking you to delve down the back of your sofa, have a look in old coat pockets for some spare Pounds or Euros and pop a donation into my Just Giving account. Put it this way, for those who like me, it will be a lovely thing to do and you will be helping a very worthwhile cause. For those of you, less fond of me just think, for the sake of a few quid the amount of pain I will be going through both during the race and afterwards!!!!
We are also looking for a corporate sponsor for £250.00, to have your company logo on the front and back of our Navy blue shorts (with the size of my bum you could probably have your website URL, office address and telephone number. We will be taking photos, before, during and after the race clearly showing the logo's and these will of course be sent to you on conclusion of the event.
Thank you for your time and wish me luck...I think I will need it!
