Story
The East Lancashire Railway (ELR) is a registered charity dedicated to restoring, preserving, and celebrating the long and rich history of the 12-mile heritage railway line running from Heywood to Rawtenstall. Our work safeguards not only the locomotives and carriages that once served the region, but also the stations, engineering works, and the Bury Transport Museum — all vital pieces of industrial and social heritage.
