Maggie's has over 25 years of experience providing free cancer support and information in centres across the UK. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, the centres are warm and welcoming, and are run by expert staff who help people live well with cancer. Raising just £22 could pay for one visit so someone with cancer can get expert psychological, practical and financial support for free, from the moment they are diagnosed.

After pure mountain challenges for Maggies in 2022&2023 I thought I needed to go even bigger and harder for 2024. So I signed up to try and ride 312km in a day with 15 large climbs c.5000m in total in Majorca next week. I'm riding with a colleague, Neil Arrowsmith who may or may not go for the 312.

Despite a lot of training since January and losing c.13kg in weight now (with 6 days to go) I think there is a less than 25% chance of completing the full distance in the stringent time limits given success would mean 14 hours in the saddle on the day at over 22kmh on average with all that climbing. If you miss the time cut offs you are stopped at 167km or 225km so I may have to settle for silver or bronze to justify any sponsorship. As before any donations are non-refundable :-) !
