Story
As I prepare to take on my first half-marathon, the Tissington Trail Half-Marathon, I am filled with a sense of urgency. On September 21, 2024, I will be pounding the pavement to raise funds for the Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir - a very talented group of young people who travel to the UK to sing, dance and drum to fundraise for their friends at home in Uganda. The choir are part of a non-government organisation called the Molly and Paul Childcare Foundation - a charity set up in the '80's to provide free education, health care and shelter for homeless, orphaned or destitute children, many of whom are found abandoned or living on the streets of the city. Unfortunately, this year the choir are unable to travel to the UK which will have a huge negative impact on the funds needed to sustain the charity in Uganda. For this reason, I have decided to run to raise money for this cause in the hope that the children in Uganda can continue to be cared for by the Molly and Paul Foundation. With a target of £1,000, every pound raised will make a real difference. Your support is crucial in helping me reach this goal. Thank you.
