Abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower · 19 April 2025

DSP offers an amazing outdoor sailing adventure for all youngsters up to the age of 25. Crew members participate in hoisting sails, cooking, steering the yacht and all other sailing activities. We regularly fund raise to cover our operating costs including the ongoing maintenance of the fleet.

The Discovery Sailing Project are raising money for a new mast on Thermopylae as part of the refit project that is currently underway.

To contribute to this mammoth task. I have decided abseil down the 560 feet of The Spinnaker Tower!I have reasoned that if Jake Paul can get in the ring with Mike Tyson, and win. If Captain Tom can raise for the £38m for NHS charities during lockdown, I (David Wallder) can abseil down the Spinnaker Tower (560 feet or 170 metres). The challenge is, that I suffer from acrophobia – I am scared of heights. Abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower will be really challenging for me. SO, I am doing a Sponsored Abseil to raise money for a youth charity with which I am heavily involved, I hope this will spur on your generosity. Come and watch on the day too ! Afterwards, help me celebrate (recover) from this crazy adventure.
