Walk John O'Groats to Land's End

In celebration of our 20th Anniversary we would like to raise £20,000 to support our work for people with CLL and SLL. We are running a Challenge 20 campaign which is based on a range of mental and physical wellbeing activities.

Story

On 1 April 2024 I start a walk from John O’Groats to Land’s End. I shall be 76 years, 7 months when I set out and hope to arrive in about 100 days. If successful, Guinness has agreed to record me as the oldest male to complete the walk.

The walk is to mark the 20th anniversary of the CLL Support Association. I was diagnosed with CLL, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, in 2006. With wonderful care from the Royal Marsden team it is well under control. I hope my walk will help show that one can live well and energetically despite CLL.

I will post updates on Instagram; david_zwerver.

During May, John Greensmyth, the Association’s Deputy Chair, plans to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats on a recumbent bicycle. We look forward to meeting when our paths cross!

Any donations, and any help on publicity, will be greatly appreciated.
