Story

Hi all,

I’m taking part in the Pendle Pub Walk 2026 to support an incredibly important cause that affects so many of us. Over the years, I’ve known a number of people who have suffered from cancer, including close family members, some of whom are sadly no longer with us. Like many others, I’ve seen first-hand the impact this illness can have, not just on individuals but on entire families.

Although my family hasn’t personally used the services of Pendleside Hospice, I recognise just how vital their work is within the community. They provide free specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people with life-limiting illnesses, offering support not only to patients but also to their loved ones during incredibly difficult times. Their services include inpatient care, Hospice at Home support, rehabilitation, and bereavement care, ensuring that people receive dignity, comfort, and compassion when they need it most.

Taking part in this event is my way of giving something back and helping ensure that this incredible support continues to be available for others. Every step taken and every pound raised helps make a real difference.

More info:

Now in its 17th year, this much-loved community event brings together over 2,000 walkers, using local pubs as friendly way-points. Organised by Pendleside Hospice and Burnley Pendleside Rotary Club, and kindly sponsored by Alderson and Horan Funeral Services, it’s a great day out with a powerful purpose.

Pendleside Hospice exists to promote and enhance quality of life for people with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers, providing specialist, holistic palliative care that supports physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.

It currently costs £6.4 million a year to run the hospice, with only around 20% funded. That’s why fundraising – and your support – is so important.
